Observing Network : Future plans in Portugal

New upgrade of the MONICAN project network

The MONICAN project network has been upgraded by adding a new multiparameter buoy in Nazare Canyon. This is a new platform moored near the coast at around 80 meters depth. The buoy is measuring wave, currents, meteorology and other oceanographic parameters.

Also, un upgrade has been applied to th deep water buoy of MONICAN, moored since 2009, to have the ADCP currents in real time.

All the data can be viewed in the project webpage: or in the real time data page:

The buoy was deployed week 12/2010 and a lot of work need to be done on the webpage and data validation. Some data is not available yet (currents) .If you need more details about the project you can contact the project manager: Dr. João Vitorino
